I'm running for Documentary Producer because I want to help bring more documentary projects to life and ensure they run smoothly. I’ve always been drawn to documentaries for their ability to tell real, impactful stories and shed light on important issues. Having been involved in multiple short films and served as Socials and Screenings Officer, I understand both the creative and logistical sides of filmmaking. I’d be excited to take on this role, not only to support society members in developing compelling documentaries but also to foster a strong, collaborative community where everyone can learn, experiment, and have fun in the process! :)

Let’s create bold, unfiltered documentaries that capture real stories and make an impact.
I’ve worked as a Director of Photography on short films, so I’m no stranger to the process of collaborating with others, bringing everyone ideas to life and working as part of a team. I understand that producing great documentaries takes ambition and vision, so I’ll focus on your projects that push boundaries, take risks, and challenge the status quo. I'll bring a clear, direct approach to the role, ensuring we produce documentaries that make a genuine difference.
My name is Maria and as Documentary Producer I hope to help tell stories that other students find and are devoted to sharing through the incredible medium that is film. Documentaries, for me, have always been a versatile form of film-making; sometimes only a couple of seconds of mute video can be enough for a story to form, like in ‘Man with a Moving Camera’. I am excited about future experimentations in how we can offer snapshots of real-life and unearth hidden stories that had or are so meaningful to others.
When producing and filming the Term 1 documentary this year that told the story of the growing popularity of community cinemas in London, I experienced the personal side to documentary-making; that is, the fulfilling insight into people’s passion and life-projects of sharing films through cinema. The more technical side to production; tackling with Blackmagics and emailing and organising shoot dates with venues and people in the industry, was just as important to understanding how documentary-making works. I hope to make the next year of Documentary production in the Film and TV Society exciting, insightful and familiar. I look forward to being immersed in all the untold stories that UCL students want to explore and portray.
