I’m Maya, a second-year English student, current Workshop Officer, and I’d love to be your president next year!

• Around Campus: You might know me from the Common Room, where I spend 80% of my time. Please feel free to say hi—I love yapping (maybe a bit too much…) & finding out what people are up to!
• Fun Facts: I’m a green tea addict with bad music taste (hello NCTzens 💚) but great book taste!
• Favourite Reads: Marlowe’s Edward II, Shakespeare’s Troilus and Criseyde, DeFoe’s Roxana, & Sterne’s Tristam Shandy (genuinely!)

My Experience: 📝

• This Year: As Workshop Officer, I helped organise workshops on narrative writing, eco-criticism, unseen extract analysis, & (upcoming!) metrical analysis
• My Vision: I believe the society should support English students with their studies & offer opportunities to explore outer-curriculum literary topics. I'd also value your direct feedback on what you’d like to see—no idea is too adventurous! 

My Aims: 🎯

• Continuing Success:
  • Expand our society magazine, Green & Gilded
  • grow Fluency Over a Cup of Tea for language enthusiasts
• Going Digital: 📱
  • Create an official TikTok account for advertising, memes, book reviews & study content!
• Inter-Society Events:
  • Collaborate with other societies (e.g. LGBTQ+ Network, Art History)
  • Strengthen connections with other universities in London (e.g. KCL)
• Signature Events: 🎉
  • Make the 2026 ball an Instagram-worthy event!
