As a second-year chemical engineering student and an active member of the Engineering Society for the past two years, I want to take on the role of engineering projects executive to help bridge the gap between students and industry.
I am passionate about organizing hands-on engineering events that provide practical experience and industry exposure. By planning workshops, site visits, and networking opportunities, I aim to equip students with skills and connections that enhance their career prospects.
With my experience in society leadership and event organisation, I am committed to making the Engineering Society a hub for real-world engineering engagement.

I am eager to take on a key role in the Engineering Society, building on my past experience as Projects Executive to drive impactful initiatives and support the committee in delivering exceptional events. Having successfully organized and managed large-scale projects (e.g. Engineering Ball 2024, London 2050, BPuzzled Hackathon), I am prepared to take on greater responsibilities, ensuring our society remains one of the best on campus.
My leadership roles in the Energy Society have equipped me with strong networking and sponsorship acquisition skills, allowing me to liaise effectively with large organizations to secure funding and support. I understand the importance of fostering corporate relationships and ensuring long-term partnerships that benefit our members.
Additionally, my time on the UCL Racing team has strengthened my teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Working under pressure and adapting quickly to challenges has prepared me to take on a leadership role that requires both strategic planning and hands-on execution.
In any position, I will be committed to mentoring new committee members, ensuring smooth collaboration across teams, and helping deliver innovative events and projects. My goal is to elevate the society’s impact, strengthen industry connections, and create an engaging environment for all members.
I am excited about the opportunity to contribute my skills and experience to continue the society’s success and bring fresh ideas to the team.

I am a mechanical engineering student who is interested in developing skills in project leading and professional skills. I have a lot of previous experience in engineering projects, in both hardware and software, and have taken part in multiple project-based events such as competitions, so I know what the main problems and necessities are when developing projects and project based events.
I have strong skills in Maths, CAD, solving physics based problems, programming (Especially C#, Python and Matlab), communication/organization, leading teams and general problem solving. I have planned and completed many projects before, and within engineering society I would be able to put all these skills to use in organising interesting projects that would involve as many people from engineering society as possible in teams. I would also be able to reach out to companies for collaborations with the engineering society.
I have attended engineering society events previously and enjoyed the broad range of fields encompassed within the society, which is part of the reason why I would be perfect for this role: I have experience in the mechanical, electrical and software/programming sides of engineering, and I study mechanical engineering, which is a broad collection of multiple engineering fields. I would be able to understand the different aspects of any projects undertaken, allowing for me to organise the different skills of each member of the teams in the most effective way possible.

Hi, UCLES! I’m Catharina, a Biomedical Engineering student, and I’d be honoured to be your next Engineering Projects Executive.
As First-Year Representative, I gained invaluable experience in organizing large-scale events and understanding the logistics behind running a society of this scale. This role deepened my appreciation for the effort behind each initiative and equipped me with the skills needed to take UCLES events to the next level.
As the Head of Engineering Projects, I aim to:
- Expand Industry Exposure: I will organise impactful company visits that cater to all engineering disciplines, ensuring everyone gains valuable insights and industry connections. I also hope to expand our Startup Career Speed Dating, providing an even broader range of networking opportunities across multiple sectors.
- Foster Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Engineering thrives on innovation across fields. I will work to introduce joint projects, and panels that connect students from different disciplines, helping you explore new perspectives and career paths.
- Make Next Year’s Projects Even Bigger and Better: From flagship events to hands-on initiatives, I will bring fresh ideas and work hard to launch a mentorship program with engineering alumni working in your industries of interest.
I’ve loved being part of UCLES this year and am eager to continue shaping its future.

I am passionate about turning innovative ideas into successful engineering projects, and I believe my experience and enthusiasm make me an ideal candidate to lead our project initiatives. My involvement in technology-driven events and competitions has given me a practical understanding of teamwork, resource management, and the challenges of executing complex projects under pressure. Participating in several hackathons taught me valuable lessons in problem identification, creative brainstorming, and collaborative solution-making. In addition, my leadership roles in other societies have sharpened my ability to coordinate events that promote technical engagement and foster innovative thinking.
In this role, my vision is to create an environment that nurtures the development of cutting-edge engineering projects through interdisciplinary competitions, collaborations with industry partners, and streamlined project management processes. I aim to support and mentor society members to turn their ideas into reality while ensuring efficient execution and high impact. I am driven by a commitment to continuous learning and a desire to launch projects that reflect technical excellence and make a meaningful contribution to our community. I look forward to the opportunity to lead our society’s engineering projects and leave a lasting impact on our academic and professional journeys.
