Raahym Rehan

I am Raahym Rehan, a Computer Science student passionate about bridging technical innovation and community engagement. I am excited to stand for the position of Events Executive for the Engineering Society. Serving as the Events Officer for the UCL Mathematics Society taught me how to organize workshops, socials, and collaborative sessions that foster a vibrant academic community.

My vision for the Engineering Society is to create an environment where practical learning meets real-world exposure. I plan to organize hackathons, technical challenges, and interactive panel discussions with industry experts, along with initiatives that encourage networking and knowledge sharing. My experiences at multiple hackathons have taught me the thrill of problem-solving under pressure and the value of team collaboration and creative thinking.

I am committed to making our society a hub for professional growth and inspiration. By creating engaging, well-organized events, we can build a tightly-knit community where every member feels empowered to contribute and explore innovative ideas in engineering. I look forward to using my leadership and event management experience to help shape the society’s dynamic future.

Emil Ching

I am standing as I want to make an impact on the UCL ENG SOC and its members. Having attended multiple Engineering Society events, I recognised the importance of effectively planning and running events, as the society's connections require consistent and engaging events to attract students.

The numerous strong industry connections that the Engineering society has allows us to run many events that can better equip the members for the future. For example, I most recently participated in the AmplifyME Finance Accelerator Simulation. Although it was very engaging, the person leading the session mentioned that there were other simulators that provide more experience to us, but were unavailable to us. Hence, I hope to broaden our scope, so we can provide more events and reach more students in the engineering faculty, improving both the current wellbeing and preparedness of our members.

Additionally, I feel like it is quite difficult for engineering students to meet each other and socialise across courses and departments. It may not be a core objective of the society, but I hope that becoming an Events executive allows me to achieve my personal goal of helping students such as myself make friends throughout the faculty.

Thus, I am standing for a events executive to implement the aforementioned changes to the Engineering Society and our members. Hopefully it will improve my leadership skills so that I can be better qualified to run for a Head position in the future.

Zainab Waly

I am re-running for the role of Events Executive of Engineering Society as a member of the previous 2024-2025 committee, where I am currently assuming the same role. Throughout this year, I have assisted in the organisation and smooth running of all events held by the Society year-round- including the upcoming and much anticipated Engineering Ball! Because of my previous experience in this role, I would love to continue to contribute to the society as a member of the Committee for the following year. My time has provided me with the hands on experience regarding the running of Engineering Society as well as the necessary insight on what members would love to see in the events sphere. The experience I have gained over this year has only fortified my ability to effectively liaise with other UCL societies for collaboration, as well as for external companies for larger events. Thank you for your consideration!

Akhilesh Sivananthan

I am eager to take on a key role in the Engineering Society, building on my past experience as Projects Executive to drive impactful initiatives and support the committee in delivering exceptional events. Having successfully organized and managed large-scale projects (e.g. Engineering Ball 2024, London 2050, BPuzzled Hackathon), I am prepared to take on greater responsibilities, ensuring our society remains one of the best on campus.
My leadership roles in the Energy Society have equipped me with strong networking and sponsorship acquisition skills, allowing me to liaise effectively with large organizations to secure funding and support. I understand the importance of fostering corporate relationships and ensuring long-term partnerships that benefit our members.
Additionally, my time on the UCL Racing team has strengthened my teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Working under pressure and adapting quickly to challenges has prepared me to take on a leadership role that requires both strategic planning and hands-on execution.
In any position, I will be committed to mentoring new committee members, ensuring smooth collaboration across teams, and helping deliver innovative events and projects. My goal is to elevate the society’s impact, strengthen industry connections, and create an engaging environment for all members.
I am excited about the opportunity to contribute my skills and experience to continue the society’s success and bring fresh ideas to the team.
