My passion for becoming UCL EFS Director of Finance stems from my desire to broaden access to finance opportunities and training for students from non-traditional backgrounds and degree disciplines.
To me, the skills of my English degree lie in analysing complex information and synthesizing key evidence into critical insights – an ability that fuels my passion for a career in finance and provide me with a unique perspective. However, I am constantly pushed towards journalism or publishing, despite the fact that one-third of English graduates enter finance. This personal experience fuels my motivation to expand UCL EFS’s recruitment base, ensuring that students from non-traditional backgrounds have the opportunity to explore the intellectual challenge and dynamic environment that finance offers.
The financial analysis skills I developed at the hedge fund, Acer Tree Investment Management sparked my passion for a career in finance. However, it was my engagement with UCL EFS and Bloomsbury Capital that cemented this ambition, equipping me with the vital technical skills needed.
I would aim to share this invaluable experience with others, upskilling all UCL EFS members through training sessions, from technical fundamentals to complex interview questions. Moreover, by engaging with UCL’s extensive alumni network, I would work to cultivate meaningful connections between EFS members and top industry professionals, enhancing networking, mentorship, and career opportunities.

Hi everyone! I’m excited to run for Director of Finance at EFS.
Through work experience at Morgan Stanley, Rothschild & Co., and BNP Paribas, I’ve built a strong foundation in finance, which I hope to leverage to bring in more high-profile industry professionals. As the head of my high school’s Economics and Business Society, I successfully organised many career-orientated events, and I’m eager to apply this experience to make EFS the best place to launch your career.
As your future Director of Finance, I will introduce:
1. Weekly Technical Workshops
- Financial Markets: Macro trends, delta one, FICC, derivatives
- Investment Banking: Accounting fundamentals, financial modelling
- Quant Finance: Programming for finance, stochastic calculus
- Push for a long-awaited Bloomberg Terminal and provide training on how to use it.
2. Targeted Sub-Divisions
- Establish three sub-divisions: Financial Markets, Investment Banking, and Quantitative Finance.
- Provide more targeted events and workshops so you can focus on the areas that interest you most.
- Also, more opportunities for you to get involved in the committee!
3. Weekly Finance Newsletter
- Keep you up to date with financial headline analysis, interview question prep, and more…
- So you can SMASH those interviews when the time comes!
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to making EFS the go-to place for financial education and career development!

Dear EFS Members,
I am Jeremy Sasson, a first-year Maths with Economics student, Analyst at Bloomsbury Capital and a committed member of EFS, running for Director of Finance. After discussions with the current EFS President, I am confident that my experience and vision make me the best candidate to lead the finance division forward and continue to deliver exceptional events for EFS.
My Vision:
• Exclusive Speaker Events – Having attended multiple EFS events this year, I am confident that I can continue inviting top tier speakers and panels from leading firms to share their insights. This year, we are also looking to expand by introducing more office visits and bringing more recruitment teams onto campus to help students to foster deeper industry connections helping them to achieve their dream jobs.
• Spring Week & Internship Guidance – Helping members navigate the internship application process with panels featuring successful EFS applicants as well as CV and technical workshops. Close collaboration with the Mentorship division of EFS will maximise chances of internship offers for all members.
• Collaborations & Growth – Partnering with top universities around the world to host more events, offering even more networking opportunities for our members as always.
I am committed to elevating our society’s reputation as a stepping stone for our members finance career and ensuring members gain access to the best opportunities!
Thank you for your support!

Having served as the First-Year Representative for Finance, I gained a deep understanding of how the society operates and the impact it can have on members. Now, as I step into my second year, I want to enhance the quality and quantity of finance events, ensuring members gain unparalleled exposure to industry professionals, recruitment insights, and technical skills.
My track record of securing 13 Spring Week offers and my upcoming Summer Internship at Houlihan Lokey allow me to bring a unique perspective on what top firms look for in candidates. With my summer secured, I can fully dedicate my time to expanding event offerings, hosting exclusive networking sessions, technical workshops, and high-profile panels featuring professionals from investment banking, asset management, and private equity.
Beyond recruitment-focused events, I want to strengthen partnerships with leading firms and introduce more hands-on experiences, including case competitions, real-world investment challenges, and fireside chats with industry leaders. My experience across finance - from LCP and Evolution Capital to Bank of America and Houlihan Lokey - positions me well to bring in top-tier speakers and increase engagement with firms at the highest level.
Ultimately, as Director of Finance, I will ensure EFS delivers the most valuable, high-impact finance events, equipping members with the skills, insights, and network to succeed. Vote for me to make this vision a reality!

I'm standing for Director of Finance because I have a deep interest in the finance industry, and I want to utilise my passion to help others gain a greater insight into the world of finance.
If you're attending an EFS event you, at the very least, are considering a role in the finance sector, and my objective is to help each and every single one of you secure your desired role at your desired firm.
You may be wondering "Who is this guy? Can I trust him?", and with a spring week, first year summer placement and countless insight events under my belt, I can promise you'll be in safe hands.
My experiences have allowed me to understand what recruiters want; this knowledge has landed me opportunities at firms such as Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank, Macquarie Group, Nomura, Fidelity International and UBS. Ultimately, it comes down to three things:
- Knowing what role you want
- Understanding what role you want
- Showing the firm why you're the best candidate for the role you want
I refuse to believe that if you commit to achieving all of these, you won't have multiple firms begging to hire you.
To ensure this happens, I will:
- a. make sure future speakers come from a variety of divisions and firms, to give you a more comprehensive view of the roles available to you.
- b. set up a weekly newsletter including the latest financial news, sector updates and more.
- c. organise workshops to help you articulate and sell yourself in a way that sets you apart from the competition.
Vote Abim: Securing your Success.

Economics and finance aren't just subjects to me—they're the lenses through which I view and understand the world. I'm running for Director of Finance because I believe I can leverage my analytical skills and passion for financial management to strengthen our society's impact and reach. My goal is to create a solid financial foundation so we can expand our events, workshops, and networking opportunities. I plan to introduce innovative budgeting strategies to optimize our resources. I'm also eager to explore new funding avenues, such as sponsorships and partnerships with financial institutions, opening doors to exclusive internships and mentorship programs. Collaboration is at the heart of a successful society. I'll work closely with the rest of the committee to ensure our financial strategies align with our collective vision. By implementing efficient financial planning, we can take on larger projects, like hosting conferences with industry leaders or organizing trips to financial hubs. My experience in finance-related projects has prepared me to handle the responsibilities this role demands. Together, we can elevate the Economics and Finance Society to new heights—creating more opportunities, fostering a stronger community, and making a lasting impact on our members' academic and professional journeys. Let's navigate the world of economics and finance side by side, making this year the most enriching one yet!

I'm delighted to put myself forward as Finance Director for the Economics & Finance Society (EFS). My extensive background in economics, finance, and data-driven decision-making positions me uniquely to manage and strategically grow our society's resources. My professional journey—from forecasting data insights in healthcare investments at Stryker to performing valuation analyses in corporate finance internships—has sharpened my analytical and budgeting abilities, ensuring precision and transparency in financial oversight.
Having actively participated in numerous EFS events, I've seen firsthand the immense value our initiatives bring to the UCL community. I'm eager to build upon this foundation, channeling my financial expertise to expand our offerings, enhance event quality, and optimize resource allocation. My previous leadership roles, such as successfully heading finance teams to raise significant funds through innovative, community-oriented campaigns, reflect my dedication to strategic financial management.
With passion, commitment, and proven financial stewardship, I'm ready to enhance EFS’s impact and ensure its continued success. As Finance Director, I promise rigorous oversight, creative growth strategies, and unwavering dedication to our society's financial health and vibrancy.

I am excited to stand for Director of Finance at UCL EFS because I have the leadership experience and operational knowledge to drive the division forward.
As a football captain for six years, I developed strong leadership and team management skills, essential for overseeing the Finance Division. This year, as a Business Executive in EFS, I played a key role in organising a highly successful year filled with finance-focused fireside chats, giving me firsthand insight into running impactful events. I attended all team meetings, conducted extensive research, and personally planned and hosted a fireside chat with Matthew Gehl, JP Morgan’s Head of EMEA Technology Investment Banking. These experiences strengthened my ability to engage with industry leaders and execute high-quality events.
As Director of Finance, I will expand the division’s impact through new initiatives. I will enhance industry engagement by hosting Investment Banking & Asset Management Roundtables and launching an Alumni Speaker Series featuring UCL alumni in top finance roles. To strengthen educational initiatives, I will run Finance Technical Workshops on valuation, financial modeling, and market analysis. Finally, I will improve career development programmes by launching a Finance Job Board & Newsletter with regular internship and recruitment updates.
Through these initiatives, I aim to enhance engagement, provide valuable learning opportunities, and ensure EFS remains the leading finance society on campus.
