Helena Rajaratnam

Dear EFS Members,

I’m Helena, a first year Data Science student running for Director of Client relations. As an executive and FYR in the Alumni Relations division I’ve worked to renew alumni interest in EFS, crafted our alumni newsletter, and built meaningful connections for our society through outreach initiatives. Through this experience, alongside close collaboration with our current leadership, I have gained a deep understanding of how I can grow EFS’s partnership and bring greater value to our members.

If elected as your Director of Client Relations, I pledge to:

  • Grow our Sponsorship Base - This year has seen remarkable progress for EFS with sponsorship increasing sixfold. My goal is to keep that momentum going – strengthening existing partnership and building new ones – by leveraging personal connections and tailoring sponsorship pitches to each firm to secure more funding and opportunities for EFS.
  • Host More Networking Events - From office visits to on-campus events, I plan to organise more frequent opportunities for our members to engage directly with industry professionals from leading financial firms.
  • Deepen collaboration - I plan to bring EFS closer to other top finance societies across London – LSE, Imperial, KCL. By co-hosting events we will engage with a wider range of firms and speakers while giving our members more opportunities to network with students from other top universities.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Patrick Sun

Weining Pan

Building strong industry connections is key to unlocking career opportunities.Having successfully invited professionals from Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Bank of America etc., I have firsthand experience in corporate outreach, stakeholder engagement, and event execution. My work with the SU Women’s Network and SU International Students’ Network has strengthened my ability to connect students with top industry professionals and ensure access to valuable opportunities.

Additionally, I will strengthen collaboration with global financial institutions, enhance student access to job opportunities, and broaden exposure beyond investment banking to private equity, hedge funds, and fintech. Leveraging my network, I will ensure EFS remains UCL’s premier finance society, offering top-tier insights and actionable career pathways for securing Spring Weeks, summer internships, and full-time roles.

With my networking expertise, strategic vision, and hands-on experience, I am committed to elevating EFS’s impact and empowering students with the right connections for their future success

Nicholas Dao

Hi everyone, I’m Nick, and I’m excited to run for Director of Client Relations. My experience in finance, strategy, and event coordination makes me confident in my ability to expand our corporate network, secure sponsorships, and create more career opportunities for members.

As Treasurer & Events Coordinator at UCL VietSoc, I secured sponsorships and organized large-scale events, including an inter-university gathering with 200+ attendees. Managing sponsorships of over £1000 and fostering partnerships showcased my ability to build strong relationships and execute high-impact initiatives—key skills for expanding EFS's corporate network.

My vision is to build long-term industry partnerships, secure more sponsorships, and create tailored networking and recruitment opportunities that directly benefit our members. Beyond event coordination, my equity research internship experience at an investment management firm has deepened my understanding of financial markets and corporate partnerships. This enables me to strategically identify and cultivate relationships that drive valuable collaborations. My ability to engage stakeholders and maintain industry connections will be instrumental in unlocking sponsorships, networking events, and career opportunities for our members.

I’m committed to making EFS a stronger bridge between students and the business world by expanding our network and unlocking new opportunities! :)

Nayan Chopra

I believe that building a strong external relationship is key to providing members with real-world exposure and career opportunities. As Director of Client Relations, I will strengthen our engagement with industry professionals, firms, and alumni to open new doors for our society. Having led teams in both sports and military settings, I understand the importance of clear communication and relationship management, appreciating the role that experienced professionals play in our understanding of the working world. I will strive to ensure that our members benefit from meaningful networking opportunities.

My priority will be securing long-term collaborations with financial institutions through fireside chats, networking sessions and interactive information sessions, ensuring access to exclusive career events and internship opportunities. I will work to build a network that extends beyond UCL, connecting students with alumni and professionals who can provide career guidance and long-term opportunities. A strong network is one of the greatest assets a student can have—I will ensure ours is one of the best.

Sophie Yuldasheva

Coming from a humanities background, I know firsthand how people underestimate your capabilities in the corporate world. I get asked what ‘Comp Lit’ actually is more than I’m asked if I want to go into finance, perhaps because people don’t make the connection. In reality, I believe I’m well-suited for this role because my degree gives me a unique perspective (if anything, I can recommend a book to “sell you this pen”).

I think as Director of Client Relations I can demonstrate that analytical and communication skills transcend disciplines. I gained invaluable guidance through EFS’ mentorship scheme and I’d love to have the chance to give back – I’ve been equipped with the skills to strengthen our society’s partnerships and ensure even more students benefit from similar opportunities. Shoutout to Katya, I wouldn’t have scored spring weeks at Blackstone and Jefferies without you!

As Collaborations Officer for the Kazakh Society, I secured sponsorships for the Central Asian Spring Festival, raising £15k and expanding our outreach to over 2,000 attendees. (That better be enough to make my home country proud!) I’ve gained experience pitching to sponsors, fostering long-term partnerships, and coordinating large-scale events.

We all know finance is a dog-eat-dog world, but in the spirit of changing this, put your faith in me (with me as your Director of Client Relations, it won’t be so cut-throat.)

P.S. Apologies for the funeral-esque candidate photo!

Daksh Upadhyay

EFS thrives on connections—between students and industry leaders. As Director of Client Relations, I will strengthen these links, ensuring our society stands out as the premier bridge between top firms and UCL’s brightest talent.

Why Me?

Through my experience in investment funds, societies and internships, I’ve worked closely with professionals across the finance industry. At Günther Schmelzer and PwC, I worked with clients to enhance system reliability and efficiency. At bp Trading, I was able to gauge how to build lasting connections with professionals in different industries to help students in their chosen career paths. Engaging with bankers, traders and investors at leading firms, gaining first-hand insight into how to create meaningful partnerships. These experiences will help me build strong, value-driven relationships—the foundation of this role.

What I Bring to EFS:

Stronger Corporate Partnerships – Expanding our sponsorship network to secure mentorships and internship opportunities for members.

Engaging and Insightful Events – Bringing in bi-annual large networking sessions (100 people from industry) to make EFS the go-to society for career advancement.

Greater Industry Integration – Ensuring our members gain exposure to key firms through direct engagement and recruitment collaborations.

EFS is already a powerhouse, I’ll make sure it reaches new heights of influence. Vote for a leader who can connect, innovate and deliver.

Nick Yuryev

Our society has the brightest students, but our connections don’t match our talent. I’m running for Client Relations Director because we deserve industry connections that reflect our potential.

I’m Nick, and I will transform networking into a practical skill every EFS member can use through my 3-step plan:

Expand Our Partners: While maintaining ties with top firms, I’ll bring in startups, fintech firms, and sustainable investment groups to provide diverse opportunities beyond traditional banking internships.

Enhance Networking Skills: I’ll introduce workshops to equip members with practical networking skills, paired with interactive panels featuring firm representatives to expand professional networks.

Leverage Alumni Connections: Many of our graduates now work in impressive roles across finance and economics. Connecting current members with these successful alumni will create valuable relationships that benefit everyone.

My candidacy is based on real results. Through networking, I have been able to convert simple conversations into spring and summer internship offers. I believe what makes a society truly outstanding is the strength of its outside connections. Choose between accepting the status quo or reaching our potential.

Vote for Nick, and I'll transform our professional network.
