Drama Society: President

Hi everyone! I’m Audrey :) I’ve been your Freshers' Representative and your VP, and now, I want to be your future President. I know a lot about the inner workings of Drama Society and the responsibility that comes with the role of President; both of which will be fundamental for the improvement of our committee next year. I also have extensive experience both in production (I mainly direct!) and acting , which is essential to a complete understanding of our society. I’m incredibly organised, driven and adaptable in any situation, as well as good at working under pressure. 

As your future President, I especially want to address the equality of opportunities we offer at Drama Society. Inclusive representation of all voices, perspectives and people is what I strive for and the fostering of our diversity is so important. I want to make existing bureaucracy more transparent, ranging from: 

• Welfare support networks

• Internal decision making 

• Our relationship with ArtsUCL. 

• Streamlining room bookings 

• Places for information and assistance

I’ve been part of Drama Society since I started at UCL and I owe this community so much. I’ve met so many friends and been a part of so many amazing projects. Theatre is my lifeblood, and I truly believe I can do so much more as your President. The most important part of any leadership role is passion and dedication and I can promise that and so much more for the coming year.

In the past 2 years, artsUCL has been such an important part of my life. I only hope to help our community grow by becoming your President. I have a lot of experience in a committee, being vice president of Musical Theatre Society this year. I’ve also been a part of different productions across various arts societies, as both production and cast in MT, Dance, Shakesoc and Drama. 

Our large and diverse society has people of different levels of interest and I hope to be a good representative that can advocate for all our members.

Things I want for our society in the future:

• Increase transparency between members of the society by making production guidelines available for all members of the society by putting a link on the instagram
• Putting a larger emphasis on our festivals by doubling down on marketing and giving them similar levels of attention as we do our shows, to increase accessibility
• Advocate for a storage space for shows, even if it is temporary so that there is less stress on producers immediately after
• Making the jurisdiction for committee members clearer, strictly outlining the vice president’s role and letting Head of productions be in charge of all admin questions in relation to our shows, including automatically being co-producer for all festivals
• More socials, theatre trips or collabs with other societies to increase togetherness
