Hi! I’m Emma, a Year 1 Human Neuroscience student. As DRS' Events Officer and Neuroscience Society's First Year Partner over the past year, I have helped to organise talks from visiting researchers, including the upcoming talk on a multimodal brain connectome by Dr. Elinor Thompson (DRS) and a neuromodulation lecture by Prof Tim Denison (Neurosoc).
If elected, I plan to advocate for:
Diverse Socials: Quizzes, museum visits and journal clubs.
Real-World Experience:
- Connecting our society with dementia-related charities and volunteering opportunities.
- Panel discussions with academics and students about relevant internships and exploring dementia research (hopefully lab visits!) and the variety of treatments for the same disease, from pharmacological interventions to multi-sensory therapy.
Monthly Meetings: Fostering multidisciplinary, biopsychosocial conversations on science books and recent article, covering topics like neurobiology as well as art therapy and demographic impacts.
Creative Activities: I’d like a dedicated website for us to publish articles on dementia, and make spotlight posts on Instagram for awareness. Members can apply to present topics at our monthly meetings, enhancing our science communication skills.
Collabs, with UCL Neuroscience Society and other universities for larger events, like a symposium, and a mentorship program to connect senior students with juniors.
Vote for a dynamic and supportive environment to deepen our understanding of dementia research!
