Having written multiple articles for Delilah throughout the past year, I've been keen to get even more involved with the publishing of the magazine. I consider myself very organised and communicative. As for experience with writing and editing, I have taken relevant modules including Creative Writing and Advanced Creative Writing, the latter of which is focused around non-fiction writing including journalism.
I have a passion for music and writing for this magazine has been another way to express this. As chief editor, I would contribute to communicating with editors and disseminating articles. For the print, I would incorporate a spreadsheet and use the WhatsApp group chat to send reminders. I'm really keen to make the editing process more efficient and transparent, ensuring that writers' work gets seen and edited for the web magazine as well as the print.
I would love to be a part od the delilah committee in any way, after writing for them for the past year, it is such a welcoming society and the current leaders are super friendly. I would love to help others combine their love for music and writing!!!

Music is one of the great loves of my life and my favourite conversation topic. In my own time, I write reviews of concerts and plays I have been to and I write almost every day for pleasure.
As a philosophy and French student, writing well and on a deadline is the baseline standard and I have learned (the hard way) the importance of writing with clarity and effect. In my final year of school, I edited the drama department’s magazine. I refined the articles, put them in the most intuitive order, then wrote an editor’s note to sum up the students’ writing and incentivise the reader’s interest. As an introduction to editorial work, I found this very satisfying; making subtle changes that gave polish to the magazine as a whole.
In my first two years at UCL I found societies quite daunting, but Delilah magazine has an incredibly welcoming environment. I would really appreciate the opportunity to feel a sense of community at UCL, and I have lots of ideas of how to make Delilah magazine a stand-out student editorial. I have always enjoyed working in a team, especially in creative environments, and in group settings I offer openness and a positive attitude, meaning I adapt easily to change. In any social situation, I make it a priority to listen and ensure everyone feels involved and able to make their opinion known.
As Editor in Chief, I would offer genuine enthusiasm and a keen eye for detail. Leading the editors would be an amazing opportunity for me to contribute to and build on th
As the editor for Delilah Magazine, I would love to contribute my experience working as the editor for Fortnightly Magazine, and the President of the Connexion Newsletter into helping to create an environment where discussion and critical exploration of both music and the politics and industry of music can thrive.
I would like to especially focus on making space for the magazine to have constant engagement with the musical atmosphere of the time, in terms of trends and latest releases - whether those be singles, albums, or EPs. By fostering constant engagement with the climate of contemporary and past music, I believe that Delilah Magazine will be able to truly bring to light the importance and magic of music. I’d like to work on exploring the ways in which music is listened to, whether it be by playlists curated by mood, or by album and how these influence our engagement with the creative worlds both of ourselves and of others. Through having an emphasis on reviewing and reflecting on music curation, production and consumption, we are better able to engage with the field that has enraptured all of us into joining this magazine. I look forward to working with you all, and enjoying all the cool music there is out there!

Hey, I'm Nicole! Some of you will know me as the EIC for this year - I'm super grateful for the opportunity to meet you all, read your articles and learn so much about music and writing. I'd love to do it for another year! Whether its going to gigs, playing my own or writing about it, music is such a huge part of my life, which is why Delilah is so close to my heart. Being able to see everything come together is an amazing feeling and I'm so proud of what we've been able to create. Now that I have some more experience, I'd love to continue developing this project and help Delilah to grow as a society - I've learnt so much about organising the magazine this year and have lots of new ideas moving forward :)

Hey Delilahs,
I’m Olivia, and I’m excited to run for your Editor-in-Chief. Being a member of Delilah has been an incredible experience so far; I’ve felt part of a community of like-minded people who have helped me to feel confident expressing my interests in 1st year. I now want to give back by helping shape its future <3
I’ve seen the dedication Maria and the wonderful committee put into running the magazine, and I want to do my part to continue that work. Together we can make Delilah the go-to platform for UCL’s music lovers by expanding our outreach and fostering a supportive, creative space. Some ideas I have for this include:
- Boosting Our Presence – Launch a TikTok page to showcase student journalism and engage new audiences.
- Build Community – Organise jazz nights, club events, music quizzes, gigs.
- Enhance Writing & Coverage – Host writing workshops, talks with people in the industry, and diversify content to showcase more genres and perspectives.
Delilah has helped me to grow in confidence by being the only student publication to allow me to try out editing, magazine writing, writing for the website where I wrote a live review on seeing Kasabian (best band ever), and designing the art for the print! I cherish these opportunities and want to say thank you to this society for making that possible. As your Editor-in Chief, I am committed to promoting your work and making 2025/26 Delilah’s most exciting year yet.
