Kostas Demiris

As a candidate for Head of Research at the UCL Data Science Society, I'm driven by my passion for advancing cutting-edge research initiatives that bridge theory with practical applications. I aim to create collaborative projects connecting students with industry partners, while establishing structured mentorship programs for members at all skill levels. My vision includes developing a publication platform to showcase our community's innovative work and organizing research workshops to equip members with essential skills for success in this rapidly evolving field.

Ella Tekeli

As an aspiring data scientist studying economics, data science, and philosophy, I'm eager to contribute to the society's research efforts! With committee experience as treasurer of the Philosophy Society, I’ve developed strong organisational and communication skills, which I would apply to this role to ensure a steady flow of insightful, well-researched content for our community.

As the role mainly involves coordinating research posts for our social media and sourcing research volunteers, I plan to focus on enhancing our outreach efforts and organising content in a clear, engaging way. I love connecting with new people, gathering information, and exploring niche areas. If elected, I'd like to introduce more video content, featuring interviews with UCL academics and industry data scientists about the field's cutting-edge developments, providing valuable educational material.

Additionally, I hope to incorporate more career-related content. By reaching out and interviewing professionals in the industry, we can provide specific career insights that will benefit students exploring data science pathways. I also plan to create a structured volunteer system to streamline contributions and ensure consistency.

Ultimately, my goal is to foster an engaging space where students can learn, discuss, and apply knowledge. I’d love to take on this role and help make research within the society more dynamic and engaging!
