As a First-Year Representative of the UCL Data Science Society, I have gained insight into its structure and identified challenges in task delegation, coordination, and inefficiencies. The society has immense potential, but these barriers limit its ability to engage students in data science. As Head of Operations, I will implement structured systems to streamline processes and maximise impact.

Studying Information Management for Business at UCL’s School of Management, I have developed a strategic mindset, learning business optimisation, project management, and transformation strategies. My academics equip me with the knowledge and skills necessary to enhance DSS’s structure and reputation.

To improve internal communication, I will introduce a centralised task system (e.g., Notion/Trello) and ensure that action-oriented meetings are held in person rather than online. This will strengthen collaboration and personal connections between society members. I will also lead Operations in partnering with Events, Marketing, and Sponsorships to develop a long-term event calendar, ensuring DSS delivers as UCL’s biggest technology society.

With leadership experience chairing my school’s student council, supervising a café, and now serving as a DSS FYR, I have consistently tackled operational challenges in a range of environments. As Head of Operations, I will apply these experiences to ensure that the society runs at its full potential, creating a collaborative, high-impact environment.
