Why am I standing? Technically I am currently sitting...anyway. My name is Anna Drhovská, a current first-year Biomedical Sciences student, and I am excited to nominate myself for the position of the next Czech and Slovak Society treasurer ! I would like to offer my experience in the financial side of event organisation, logistical challenges solving, and committee management to the community. In the upcoming year, I aim to make sure that the Cz/Sk society not only retains its wonderful approach but also keeps being as fun as it now is !
In the past year, I have met many wonderful people and made truly joyful memories thanks to the Cz/Sk society. I would love to be one of the helping hands, keeping it enjoyable for all the future members. As financial management underlies many of the pivotal parts of the society's activities, such as social events or educational talks, I am determined to make these fundamental processes run in an orderly manner while ensuring that everyone's voice is being heard and valued.
I am motivated to help Czech and Slovak society to be a supportive environment for students and beyond, offering them opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals in the university environment. I would be very grateful for your support with my application, and if you have any further questions, you can message me, find me at one of the events or the weekly lunch ❤️

Hailing from Žižkov, Prague, I am passionate about sharing the rich Czech and Slovak culture which we all cherish! As your Treasurer, I will work closely with the President to bring you more exciting events. I plan to engage with the embassy for more visits, particularly with the upcoming autumn election, and collaborate with Czech cultural hubs like Bohemia House for gatherings. Additionally, I will seek cultural grants and sponsorships from the Union and Czech firms to expand our activities. To boost awareness at UCL, I aim to organise film screenings and Czech & Slovak Beer pub crawls. A key priority will be increasing membership, ensuring a larger budget to enhance the society’s reach, especially among Czech & Slovak students who have yet to join.
My qualifications extend beyond my degree in Economics with East European Studies (with a focus in maths). As Charity Prefect in Sixth Form, I organised successful fundraisers and led a team serving over 350 breakfasts in East London, demonstrating both leadership and entrepreneurial drive—qualities I aim to bring to the Czech & Slovak Society to support its growth. Holding three European passports and having worked in professional environments across the continent, I am confident in my ability to further expand the society’s cultural presence at UCL.
Thank you for considering me for this role, I truly appreciate your support. If you have any questions about my aims or qualifications, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
