Hi everyone, my name is Vivek, and I’m excited to be running for Editor of The Caerulean.
I’ve been a committed Conservative Party member since I was 17, actively participating in school debates where I honed my ability to articulate ideas clearly and confidently. My experience includes taking part in three major Question Time debates alongside MPs, Ministers, and prominent political figures. Additionally, my time working with the Rt Hon Michelle Donelan during her tenure as DCMS Minister provided me with valuable insight into party politics and parliamentary processes.
As Editor, I will work closely with the committee to uphold our society’s commitment to open, respectful discussions — resisting the pressures of ‘cancel culture.’ I strongly believe that free speech is vital to fostering healthy debate and encouraging students to engage with viewpoints that challenge their own.
In collaboration with the Deputy Editor, I will strive to produce thought-provoking content that challenges the status quo rather than conforming to the ‘easy narrative.’ By encouraging bold ideas and constructive disagreement, The Caerulean can become a platform where meaningful conversations thrive.
I would be honoured to have your support and look forward to working with you to strengthen our society’s voice on campus.
