It's been a pleasure to have dedicated six years to rowing, the past two in M1 for RUMS have really strengthened my passion and vision for this club. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to receive top-tier coaching and mentorship from excellent captains like Lewis and Eti using elements of their coaching style to better my own, an essential experience. Over the past year, coaching our novices has been nothing short of life-changing and has undoubtedly strengthened my captaining ability through the necessary practice this role requires and I would be honoured if you would continue to allow me to develop the incredible men of this club as a senior captain this year. It’s taught me amongst many other things that great leadership isn’t just about technical precision but balancing driving ambition for the team and club while keeping spirits high and ensuring everyone loves the sport as much as I do, that is how you get the most out of a crew and motivate them.

A principal focus is on enhancing technique and fostering an environment where every rower thrives. One key improvement I’d champion is the further implementation of videography. By incorporating video feedback into our training from comparing Wednesday's technical focus from John and then consolidating this each week before and after Saturday’s water sessions we can make accelerated visible progress. Seeing your improvements builds confidence, motivation, and ultimately, faster boats and a happier and more successful club.
