Matous Schnabel

As all of you who have seen me involved in all of the various activities and aspects of RUMSBC hopefully know by now, I want to give the most to our club. That is why I want to get involved on a deeper level. I have quite a bit of experience with tools from our cottage at home, so it has been a pleasure to help Mark and Sam with the maintenance of the boats this year. I don't think there's a shadow of a doubt in anyone's mind that I will always put in the effort and do the best job I can. So I don't think I need to convince you that I would faithfully take on any responsibility that comes with this position.

Danny Graham

I am standing for the position of Assistant Boatswain having enjoyed being part of RUMSBC this past year and would love the opportunity to contribute more to the club. At the boathouse, I have witnessed how crucial the maintenance of the club's boats are to the success of the club. As the Assistant Boatswain, I would have the opportunity to contribute to this by assisting and learning from the Boatswain to ensure that our boats are in their best possible condition.

I am confident that my enthusiasm and commitment to the club will allow me to be a valuable member of the team. If successful in my application, I will focus on the following key areas:

  • Supporting the Boatswain & Improving Rigging Efficiency: I’ll work closely with the Boatswain to ensure smooth operations and support the purchase of additional rigger jiggers to speed up rigging. I will also create a system to ensure all rigger jiggers are consistently stored and accessible at the boathouse.
  • Maintaining Boats to the Highest Standards: I will help ensure that our boats are always in prime condition for both training and racing, directly contributing to our ability to improve and win medals. This will allow our rowers to focus on developing their skills without concerns about equipment.
  • Fostering Team Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: I will encourage all members to take pride in maintaining equipment. This will help ensure the proper care of boats and equipment, building a stronger, more united team.

YEAH RUMS!!!

Apiraami Manivannan

RUMS Boat Club has become a defining part of my university experience, giving me discipline, support, and a sense of belonging. I want to take on the role of Assistant Boatswain to give back to the club that has given me so much while developing my leadership and technical skills. I look forward to learning in this role would provide me with invaluable experience in boat maintenance and logistics, preparing me to eventually take on the Boatswain position myself if I do get the role.

As someone who throws themselves into everything—from attending Sportsnight to buying coal for the Freshers —I bring energy, enthusiasm, and dedication to every challenge. My attention to detail, reliability, and willingness to learn make me well-suited to assisting the Boatswain in keeping our boats race ready. I thrive in hands-on roles and enjoy problem-solving, whether it's repairing minor damages, or making sure everyone treats the boats with the respect they deserve.

Beyond maintenance, I see this role as a way to support my teammates and contribute to the club’s long-term success. Rowing isn’t just about individual effort—it’s about working together to push boundaries, both on and off the water. As Assistant Boatswain, I’ll gain the skills and experience necessary to ensure our boats are always race-ready, setting myself up to take on greater responsibilities in the future.
