Janice Li

Hi everyone - I'm Janice and I would love to run for media and publicity officer for the Biopharmaceuticals soc next year. I am deeply intriguied in the field of biopharmaceuticals and hope to go into it after my degree so would love to share my passion for it by helping build the instagram to further promote the society so more like minded people would join the society. As media sec, I vow to keep all members updated through all channels and help be a first point of contact with events that are happening within the society and encourage attendance. Through social media, I also hope to branch out and connect with biopharm socs in other London universities to organise some joint events for networking. Moreover, I would love to help amplify the voice of pharmaceuticals and share recent industry breakthroughs on social media to keep everyone updated about interesting updates and discoveries in the field. Thank you so much for reading my manifesto and I look forward to your votes.

Derin Karakas

I am excited to increase Biopharmaceutical society's presence by drawing in more people interested in STEM and increase participation and networking at our events. My goal is to make the society more visible by bringing new marketing strategies that align with social media trends. This includes interactive stories, engaging reels, and creative post designs that ensure our events are in the spotlight. I’ll make sure that there is consistent promotion leading up to each event so that, even at the last minute, no one misses out. Additionally, I will make our social media an interactive and welcoming space where members feel comfortable engaging and sharing their thoughts. If elected, I’ll work to showcase our events and make sure our society is one of the most popular in STEM. I’d love your support to make this happen!

Kyulin Kim

Hey everyone! I’m Lynn, and I’m running for the media & publicity officer. My goal is to make this society a community you WANT to be part of because it offers something valuable to you.

How will I achieve this?:

  • Provide networking opportunities: Using IG and LinkedIn, you will have the opportunity to connect with alumni and industry professionals to gain job insights and career pathways.
  • ‘Day in the life’ & insightful content: Have you ever wondered what working in biopharma actually looks like? Hear from students, alumni, and professionals. I’ll start by inviting current students and UCL graduates working in the biopharmaceutical industry to share their stories, so you get first-hand career insights.
  • Interactive and fun social media: No more plain event reminders. I plan to run monthly polls to gather your opinions on society events and work closely with the committee to take action on your feedback. Your voice matters! Also, you can expect Q&As, behind-the-scenes clips, and regular suggestion sessions that keep you engaged.

I’ve designed posters and event promos that got events noticed, not just ignored in a sea of announcements!

Most importantly, academic societies aren’t just about lectures but career growth, making friends, and networking opportunities. I am confident that I am an excellent fit for this role as I have experience in social media and marketing roles.

Vote for me to create a society experience you’ll genuinely enjoy and benefit from! Thank you🥰

Kenny Zhou

Hi everyone my name is Kenny and I am a second year BSc Biomedical Sciences student. I am excited to stand for the media and publicity officer.

In the past year, while we had some fascinating events including socials with other societies and professional talks from lecturers, I saw the problem that important notifications of events could not be delivered in the most accessible way to the soc members. While this was because of the vacancy of this position in the committee last year, I am eager to take the role and make a change. As a member of the society for two years and counting, I know how frustrating it is sometimes when I saw the posts about upcoming events on our instagram account but I had to find the sign up links separately, or when I was so busy that I completely forgot about an event and when I remembered, it was over already without a notification on the social media platforms. While I am highly active on social medias every single day (a good thing in this case I guess), and past experiences on organising and advocating events online and offline, I am confident that I will make an improvement to increase the participation of our society members to all the events to benefit everyone the most, and to attract more new members to this society. Your vote will be very helpful to me and to all of us!
