I started at the BBI as a Research Team Lead in 2023 and became Head of Research in 2024. So I’ve really been involved every step of the way, from creating teams to following up with teammates, overseeing peer reviews, and guiding the publishing and conference process. This has really helped me understand what works and what doesn’t for both sides at every stage.
When I became Head of Research, I made it a priority to ensure that Research Teams were better supported and that all of you felt like you could come to us for help and support whenever needed (which I hope you did!). I’ve actively listened to your feedback and tried to make sure we take that into account and are as understanding and supportive as possible!
If elected President, here's my vision for the next year:
1. Hands-on Research: I want to bring our research into the real world. This means more fieldwork, direct interviews, and engaging with communities beyond campus.
2. Publication & Conference Opportunities: I plan to create a support system to help members publish in journals and present at conferences, taking them from publication to presentation.
3. Forge Stronger External Partnerships: I’m working to build partnerships with academic institutions, think tanks, and research networks, giving our members direct access to experts who can offer valuable academic and career insights.
My vision is for BBI to be a thriving, supportive community where many future researchers begin and nurture their

Bentham Brooks needs a change, and I am willing to provide it. This year, I was the only committee member who was also writing a paper, so I got a real sense of what works and what doesn’t when it comes to putting together a great paper – and having fun while doing it!
As a Team Leader, I was able to understand the effort and dedication that is required from us as we write our papers. I was able to see what is needed to make a team succeed, while I also saw where the society could do more to support us as we work on our papers.
When I was Vice President, I saw some of the challenges the previous committee faced – mainly the lack of structure and planning. I’ve got a plan to make things run smoother. My previous work in the Civil Service means I have a strong network of guest speakers I would love to bring in to chat with you guys! I want to set up many more learning events, and more socials, ensuring all of us writers have a much stronger support system!
Vote for me as President. I’ll make sure we all have fun, learn something, and finish next year with papers we can all be proud of in 2026!
