Election post

Hi, I’m Osbert, a Year 1 BSc Psychology student, and I’m thrilled to run for Treasurer! As this year’s BIS Welfare Officer, I’ve gained insight into the society’s logistics. Coupled with my business experiences, I’m eager to re-contribute to BIS from a financial perspective and am confident in keeping BIS innovative and financially strong.
From being a school STEM Week Director to organising BIS’ Charity Social, I have experience ensuring financial sustainability without jeopardising event quality by finding sponsors and strategically allocating resources. As a Consulting Intern at Eureka Consulting Group, I forecasted budgets, mapped revenues and analysed economic trends. I also developed a 25-page finance report with profit-maximisation strategies for a tuition centre. My budgeting and financial forecast skills directly apply to managing BIS funds, and I look to optimise budgets and expand our scope.
As Treasurer, I strive for strategic financial planning at every planning stage by working closely with the President and Events team to ensure smart budgeting at the onset of each event. Moreover, I aim for transparency and objectivity in financial planning by using data-driven and business tools to forecast budgets and revenue. Lastly, I wish to secure external partnerships and sponsors to grow BIS and host bigger events.
With my financial and society experience, and passion for behavioural science, I’m committed to keeping BIS well-funded and growing! I appreciate your support!
