Ashmita Das

When attending my first Bangla Society event, I felt welcomed by the warm attitude of the members and attendees compared to other society events I had attended. This environment motivated me to become a first year representative- a role which I was selected for in October 2024 and have been performing avidly since. I was given the opportunity to support the committee at events and I thoroughly enjoyed taking on these management roles, where the support of the committee acted as a cornerstone in my development. I realised that this was a community that I would love to continue to be a part of in the future and I would honour the chance to contribute more to the success of the society by taking on a larger responsibility.

My motivation comes from joining the society's social media team: When assisting in the production and management of social media content, I loved having an outlet to apply my creative ability, which I had previously done by producing posters for my Sixth Form's cultural awareness team. I have learnt the technical skills needed in social media management under the guidance of the current Senior Media Officer- her work ethic and skill has set a high standard that I will aspire and work to meet throughout my role. From this, I designed, researched and created the "MAA month"  and "Shaheed Day" educational posts in February 2025 and I would like to continue my role in the social media team more actively, dedicating more time and energy to this exciting position.

I am standing for Senior Media Officer because I want to enhance our online presence and engagement. My goal is to make our platforms more interactive, informative, and visually appealing. I will ensure that posts are both aesthetically pleasing and detailed, so members have all the information they need while enjoying the content they see.
One of my key focuses will be maintaining and elevating our TikTok presence. This year’s efforts were great, and I aim to ensure consistency, if not take it even further. I will also stay up to date with trends and news, making our content relevant and easily accessible for our audience.
I want to capture the true essence of our events, so that the excitement and memories live on through our social media even after they end. Bangla Society is all about fun and community, and I want to reflect that through creative and engaging content.
Beyond just entertainment, I believe our society should also raise awareness about current affairs related to Bangladesh and showcase collaborations that have a real life impact. Through my strong communication skills, I will ensure our platforms highlight the vibrancy of our culture and the meaningful engagement we strive for, such as we are with the Maa charity currently!
