The BASc course and community has allowed me to find new interests, meet new people, and have a new perception of my environment. As a South Korean who has lived the majority of their life in Geneva, I am aware of the struggles of feeling left out and having to adapt to a new place, with new people. However in my opinion, just like the interdisciplinary nature of BASc, this community has been welcoming since the first day of my life at UCL. I wish to continue making people feel this way, especially since many of us are international students who have left their home and family in order to come study in London. My goal is to make the BASc society feel like a family students can rely on, by giving them chances to bond with other people in the course with fun society events and outings.
I hope to create a stronger sense of community within BASc, as I personally wasn't fully aware of the benefits and activities that the BASc society provided throughout the year during my first year. I am confident to say that I am open-minded, organised, and hard working, which I believe are qualities that will be useful for the BASc society President to have. I want to reflect the voices of the people part of the BASc society, and most of all, make this society a fun, exciting, and lively in everyone's memory once they leave UCL.

I am writing to express my enthusiasm for running as President of the BASc Society. As a first-year student, I have completely fallen in love with this program—not only with the academic flexibility and the variety of profiles it attracts but also with the incredible people and the unique atmosphere that make BASc so special. I would love to contribute to this community and help strengthen the bonds that make it so vibrant.
Throughout my life, I have naturally taken on the role of the organizer—the friend who plans trips, events, and even a prom with a €15,000 budget. Leadership has been part of my journey from a young age: through scouting, captaining my sports teams, and serving as class representative from ages 12 to 18, I have learned to take initiative, delegate tasks, work in a team, and, most importantly, bring people together.
Federating people is one of my greatest strengths. I thrive on creating connections, making sure everyone feels included, and organizing meaningful experiences. Social creativity is something I take pride in, and I am never afraid to invest my time and energy (I have A LOT of it) to ensure that others can enjoy moments that bring us all closer. Additionally, I have always communicated in a calm and diplomatic way, ensuring that discussions remain constructive and that everyone’s voice is heard.
I would love the opportunity to dedicate myself to this role and help shape an even more engaging and dynamic BASc experience for everyone.

Hello BAScers! I'm Carlos, currently on my Year Abroad. You might've seen (or heard) me last year yapping in the common room, as it is in fact one of my favourite activities. However, I only have 1500 characters so I'll get to the point:
Why am I a good fit for President?
- I have experience dealing with SU bureaucracy, event planning, and SU finances: (Ex-VP of BAScSoc, Ex-Treasurer of Aikido Soc, Ex-hall rep)
- I was part of the old BASc committee, know the admin + professors, and have connections with alumni
- Was directly involved in planning and executing BASc Ball and the Alumni Event
- Friendly and approachable, I am very involved in the community, and like getting to know everyone
- I am used to leadership positions in group setting, and I prioritise dialogue & feedback
- I made a cow costume for halloween, does it get more BASc?
What are some of my plans? - Improve past flagship events [ie. striving for bi-annual alumni events]
- BASc events would be held at least once a month. Past events which would make a comeback include:
- Pizza and Pints (and board games)
- Karaoke night
- BASc picnic, to welcome new BAScers and introduce them to some veterans
- New events would be cooked up, like a homemade BASc Pub Quiz, testing the interdisciplinary of teams (winners get a prize!)
- Calendar in the Common Room containing the months activities
- Make it a policy that a committee member will always attend Donuts w/ Department to hear feedback
- Revamp the WhatsApp group
- Build on attempts for a BASc master module list
