Louise Von Haartman

Hi, I'm Louise, a second-year Archaeology and Anthropology student. As someone who has been a Transition Mentor and First-Year Academic Representative, I’ve worked closely with both the Anthropology and Archaeology departments - and I truly thrived in these roles. I love representing people and believe I’m a strong communicator. I’ve honed these skills further while managing social media and communications for a UK charity, and I’d love to bring this experience and approach to the Anthropology Society. Please vote for me if you trust someone who can hold everyone's fishing rods (pic).

Sophia Whelan

My Why?

2 terms into my Anthropology degree and not have I only fallen in love with the subject, I have fallen in love with the fellow classmates and the impact we have together. Yet, often as a first year student you can feel de-attached from the wider department as academically we have very few cross overs with other years. If I was to get this role this is a key aspect of my work as Communications and Social Media Officer - ensuring first years have the confidence to come along to events - even if it might feel daunting. Personally, as an academic rep this year I have found it invaluable to be able to speak to 2nd, 3rd, 4th years about there experiences, something which without this role- would not be possible.

Know you understand my passion and reasoning, why would I actually be good for this role?

  1. Organisation skills - from running EDI committee at school I am able to manage and ensure - announcements, communications can be communicated ahead of time and clearly
  2. Social Media and Design - I'm a stickler for detail and well versed with many design softwares to ensure posts are fun and engaging!
  3. Clear Communication - I might like a good chat but I know when to cut the fluff and get to the point and if I says so myself I write great emails!

Goals

  1. Increase Engagement across all years with Anth Soc (especially 1st yrs)
  2. Support committee on communicating plans, ideas and events
  3. Make Anth Soc more accessibly through multi-media methods

Please vote for Sophia Whelan, for impact!!
