Fatema Najafi

Being on Absoc committee as a first year was a great experience, there's a true sense of community and Alhamdulillah it is incredibly rewarding working together to arrange events. Our service is for our living imam, the Ahlulbayt and for God and to be able to continue to serve for this sake not only helps us improve our individual faith but also allows us to help give back to our community and help youth strengthen their relationship with their deen. The opportunity to serve on absoc committee is a gift given to us from Allah as through helping with Islamic events we are reawarded. To be blessed with the oppurtunity to serve again.  I have several ideas for future events for absoc such as hosting more discussion style events and focusing on more Islamic texts such Risalatul Huqooq, Nahjul Balagha , mafatih Al jinan and how we can apply such lessons in our lives. In addition to this perhaps planning a couple more socials in the year would be nice such as go karting.

Rahma Virjee

Having been on committee this year as the secretary, I think my experience in helping to organise events, contributing ideas, and building connections within the community has been the perfect stepping stone in gaining the skills and confidence to apply for VP for the next year. I understand there’s a lot of hard work, patience, and commitment that goes into the role of Vice President, which I am willing to put in the work for. Since it will be my final year, I’d like to take on a leadership position to grow and come out of my comfort zone, especially since this is an opportunity I may not get again. With core strengths in organisation, reliability, and communication, I think I can work well with my future committee in executing a successful year of absoc!

Ibrahim Khanafer

I’ve spent a lot of time immersing myself in Shi’ism - reading books, listening to lectures, and talking to scholars and it’s been incredibly eye-opening. I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned and believe that joining this role would be the perfect way to do it. I would love to help plan and coordinate events, pick topics that matter to our community, and overall create an environment where we can all deepen our understanding of the Ahlul Bayt (as). This feels like the natural next step in using what I’ve been blessed to learn, and I’m excited about the chance to make a real difference together.
