Miriam Joseph

I am running for the role of Treasurer as I am passionate about the financial stability and growth of the Afro-Caribbean Society. As a law student, I value attention to detail and believe that by effectively managing our budget, and ensuring money is spent wisely, we can continue to support events, and our community in a sustainable way.

Beyond finances, I am determined to foster an environment of celebration within our community, where every member feels empowered. In particular, I hope to reach out to potential Caribbean members of which there is a notable lack of, as Treasurer, I hope to offer the representation in the ACS committee that may inspire other Caribbeans to join. A key part of this is maintaining the quality of all our events, making sure they remain engaging, impactful, and accessible to all.

As Treasurer, I intend to work on sponsorship deals and partnerships that will bring more opportunities to our members. Additionally, I want to ensure that first-year students stay engaged, while also keeping returning students involved and invested in the society’s growth.

It is also important to me to continue the empowering legacy of previous ACS committees by retaining successful strategies whilst also implementing fresh ideas for improvements within our society. Most importantly, I aspire to leave a lasting impact by improving the financial sustainability of the society, ensuring that ACS continues to thrive for years to come.

Joshua Ayodele Scoote

I am standing for ACS Treasurer because I am passionate about ensuring the financial stability and growth of this society

ACS has been a cornerstone of my university experience. From social events like the BKCHAT and Boys Night, to the career support it provides, ACS has given me unforgettable memories and a supportive community that made my transition to UCL seamless.

However, as we all know, nothing is free. ACS cannot continue to organise its incredible events and initiatives without adequate funding, which is why I am motivated to make sure it is financed effectively.

Managing accounts is nothing new to me. Last summer running my painting business, I became well versed in:

  1. Budgeting
  2. Forecasting expenses
  3. Managing funds

These skills align directly with the responsibility of Treasurer. Moreover, my previous work as a first aider has made me an adept communicator and team player. With this experience under my belt, I guarantee to successfully liaise with fellow committee members and the Student Union, putting ACS at the top of my priority list.

As Treasurer, I’ll work diligently to stretch our funding effectively, ensuring the highest quality events at the lowest costs.

If you want promises backed by experience, vote for me.
