I’m standing for ACS Sponsorship and Careers Officer because I want to make UCL ACS the target society for firms to provide with opportunities and ensure that you secure your dream role.
Now, you may be wondering “Who is this guy? Why should I vote for him?” Honestly, they are both very valid questions; with a spring week, first year summer placement and countless career insight events under my belt, at firms such as Morgan Stanley, Latham & Watkins, Warner Music Group and the Institute of Economic Affairs, I can promise you'll be in safe hands.
These experiences have allowed me to understand not only what recruiters want from applicants, but also why applicants are not getting the roles that they want; it boils down to two issues:
- Lacking the application know-how to set you apart
- Not knowing what career you want to pursue
I intend to address these issues comprehensively by:
a. Organising careers workshops to level up each component of your application (CV, cover letter, interview skills)
b. Diversifying our speakers to ensure you’re exposed to a wide range of roles
With this developed skillset, I have no doubt that firms will be flocking to provide you with opportunities and ultimately help you secure your dream role.
