Nicholas Dao

Hi everyone,

My name is Nick, I’m a first year undergraduate taking BSc Statistics, Economics and Finance and would like to nominate myself as Vietsoc’s next treasurer.

This year, our society has been full of experiences. Working as events coordinator, I’ve witnessed the inclusivity and spirit of our family-like community. I’ve recognised that Vietnamese society has provided a sense of belonging to many students, and therefore would like to continue nurturing our society’s growth.

As treasurer, I will oversee the financial planning for our society. My main responsibilities will focus on managing funds, budgeting, as well as ensuring high quality events for our society. As a finance bro, I am confident in my abilities to handle these responsibilities effectively, using my quantitative and analytical skills to navigate any unforeseen financial challenges.

Growing up in Vietnam, Poland and the UK, not only have I experienced stark differences in cultures, but also recognised how they interact with each other. I believe this is an essential trait in building an environment for international Vietnamese students who would like to learn more about their homeland culture. As a committee member, I look forward to welcoming all Vietnamese and international Vietnamese students, as well as fostering an environment that feels like home for everyone!

Thank you for considering me for this role.

Lenka Dang

I believe a good balance is key to success. I was born in the Czech republic and was raised there, but lived in a Vietnamese household. Maintaining balance between cultures I like to embrace is difficult and that’s why I am so glad for the Vietnamese society, which helps me remember my Vietnamese roots.

I am running for treasurer because I would not only like to keep good balance of Czech and Vietnamese cultures, but also good financial balance of the Vietsoc, so it has enough money to operate and provide entertainment for its members.
