Luis Athiprayoon

Hi! I'm Luis, and I started this society to help connect students at UCL and around London to a legal career in the US. I want to continue the great work we did setting up this society in the 23/24 academic year and create an inclusive, intellectual forum for the discussion of US law and politics. But academics is only part of it—through social events, I want to build a community of students who share a passion for this field.

Here's how we do it:

  1. Bolster our social media presence: as a new society, one of the key factors to success will be getting the word out about our events and activities through social media. I will lead the social media team in ensuring that we have a regular and engaging presence across platforms, including our own website.
  2. Community outreach: as a new society, we will often need to collaborate with other groups, for example to plan joint events with other, more established UCL societies. Having led the events team at UCL IRSoc, I have built crucial connections with leaders of other societies and staff at the US Embassy.
  3. Amplifying underrepresented voices: the world of law and politics in the US is still, unfortunately, a long way from racial, ethnic, and gender equality. As president, I would lead and support welfare initiatives that encourage underrepresented groups to seek academic and professional growth in the fields of law and politics.

Vote for me, and together, we will grow this society into a supportive community of friends and scholars.
