Gleb Vedmid

Hello everyone! I am Gleb, a third year BSc Politics & International Relations student running to be your Sponsorship Manager.

I am not a new face to the Ukrainian Society, as I have previously served as your 2022-23 Treasurer. My responsibilities involved budget management, allocation of resources, and organisation of numerous events. Because of this experience, I am beyond familiar with the processes relevant to the role I am running for, which will ensure my success as your Sponsorship Manager.

Furthermore, as an active committee member of the UK Cubing League and the UCL Cubing Society, I have secured over £1,000 in funding for over a dozen cubing societies across the country. This achievement reflects my dedication to promoting community projects and highlights my ability to attract and manage sponsorships.

Given the continuing Russian invasion, I believe that it is our duty as Ukrainians to aid our country in every way possible. By stepping into the role of Sponsorship Manager, I hope to leverage my skills, experience, and passion to ensure that the UCL Ukrainian Society continues to thrive.

The Russian invaders want to take our dreams away. Let’s work together to achieve them anyways.

Slava Ukraïni!

Ryem Khanin

Pryvit!

My name is Ryem, and I am a 1st year student at UCL studying Politics and Sociology applying for the position of Sponsorship Manager.

In a time when our country and fellow Ukrainians are valiantly resisting Russia’s invasion at home, it is our responsibility to remain strong and united abroad, as well as contribute to our defensive cause intellectually, socially, and financially. I want to change ucl.ua for the better, and have prior leadership experience to guide me.

For example, I have been a Student Representative and National Honour Society member at Kyiv International School prior to my arrival to the UK. Following the invasion, I have also held leadership positions in my Year 13 school EF Academy Oxford. I continue refining my interpersonal and communicative skills through part-time roles at a leading startup in the UK’s financial sector.

My goals in the role are simple and effective:

1. Establish new, meaningful relationships with private firms and public organizations in the UK that could contribute to the development of the society’s members creatively, intellectually, or professionally (workshops, networking events, part-time roles), or through aid in fundraisers.

2. Lobbying the society’s President and Vice President to increase the number of socials. At least 2 non-educational socials every month as a goal to meet.

3. Working with the society to organise high-profile speaker events - Boris Johnson as main target for 2024-2025.

Glory to Ukraine!
