Turkish Society: Treasurer

 Hi everyone! My name is Alp, and I am a third-year Mechanical Engineering student at UCL. This year, I nominate myself for the Treasurer role at the Turkish Society. I have been a member of this valuable community since I started my course. Since the beginning of this academic year, I've been actively contributing to the organisation and logistics of the events. For the next year, I would like to take on more responsibilities in the committee by practising my financial and business skills. I would like to combine the financial knowledge from my master's degree - that I will be studying in the next year- with my budget management skills, aiming to contribute to society's income. I also would like to efficiently use our yearly budget to organise multiple events for our society members. I already met with the majority of the valuable society members but I'm looking forward to meeting you all ! Merhaba!

Serving as your Social Media Officer for 2023-24, I had the opportunity to collaborate with this incredible committee to organize various cultural events. Turkish Society presents a welcoming environment that fosters our culture and provides an open platform to those interested in this culture. Seeing the development of our society and how much more engaging we are with the Turkish student body this year, I was inspired to obtain a different role in our committee next year. Being led by strong women figures in our committee for the past two years, I want to continue this tradition and nominate myself as Treasurer.

As Treasurer, I aim to help our President and committee members in addressing their financial problems and to build a strong bond between the SU and our society. As a Management Science undergraduate, I come from a combination of data, mathematics and finance-based background. Thus, I believe my numerical abilities, analytical and strategic thinking skills, as well as my past experiences, prove that I am a good fit for this role. Given my interests and serving within the UCL WinF committee where I also managed the budget for our Share the Vision Conference and likes I hope to create a wider network linking Turkish Society with other societies.

Hoping to continue being a part of this wonderful committee, I am confident to serve Turkish Society and accomplish my responsibilities. Let’s continue to thrive as strong women figures for our society!
