Being a part of RUMS Tennis has played an integral role in the past two years of my medical school journey. After being elected Fresher of Tour in my first year, I was one of the social secs this year working on organising tour, curry nights and socials with other unis such as the pub golf we had recently, as well as obviously the classic sportsnight every Wednesday. By taking on this responsibility, I not only improved my organisational (and pint downing) abilities, but most importantly I had so much fun and made so many friends I wouldn’t have otherwise had. Being a part of the squad for the last two years will also allow me to understand the finances of training and court bookings.

Through being so involved in the club, I’ve formed lasting friendships and a deep sense of belonging making me want to continue participating in the organisational side of RUMS Tennis, this time focusing on the admin. This includes working alongside the rest of the committee to organise the paperwork for another amazing tour, effectively communicating with the Students Union about reimbursements and streamlining the process of court bookings for squad training. This will hopefully allow tennis to grow and stay the best sports club in RUMS (my objective opinion)!
