Thirisa Kalatharan

Taking on the role of treasurer for UCL Tamil Society would be an exciting opportunity to be able to immerse myself in the culture and contribute to promote diversity within the university while raising cultural awareness. I believe I have the right skills of being a successful treasurer from being a VP in Fintech society which required high levels of organisational and time management skills, it would be great to apply those skills in a context that pushes our Tamil society out there. 

From studying Economics, to working a part time job and managing financially to live out, I have developed good financial management skills which is essential for the treasurer role with budgeting and handling financial inflows and outflows.  

By being able to manage finances well, I hope to aid the society into being able to gain popularity, and fund new events and activities to put us back on the map - this could be through sourcing sponsorships or just simple negotiation.

From being an active member of the society, I have seen first-hand the level of teamwork that is necessary, and that is something I do excel at, having managed a team of 3 executives and at my job, where I am constantly around people and have built up communication skills, all of which will make me a successful treasurer. 

From being a VP previously, I am aware of the level of responsibility this takes and I know I can deliver to the best of my abilities to UCL Tamil Society and I hope you have the same faith in me.
