Hi! My name is Isabel and I would love to be your president for UCL Table Tennis Club. I am in my second year studying Theoretical Physics but many of you will know me as the current welfare officer. Playing table tennis for over 10 years from my local club to nationals has exposed a beautiful yet unique culture of teamwork, dedication and respect. Our society is one of the best at UCL due to the warm people attending each week, our amazing coach Shu and the accessibility of the sessions. Being involved with the committee this past year, I have gained a real insight into the organisation required to fulfil the president’s role and I would love to extend our club’s pathway and put my ideas into practice. If I were elected, I would work hard to improve areas of social, development and team memberships. For example, I would ensure that there is absolute synchronicity before BUCS, including an efficient kitting process, and establish the correct structure for the social and development sessions. In addition, I am passionate about progressing through the development points awards scheme and use this as a way of promoting our diverse community. To me, inclusivity is crucial, and I believe that a greater fusion between all membership types is key to a positive environment where we can all learn and develop together. More engaging socials and maintaining steady communication throughout the committee will bring our society closer and yield excellent results.
