Having spent a year as the logistics coordinator in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Society subcommittee, I feel my passion is deeply cemented for cardiothoracics, and personally invested in seeing the growth of this society to welcome all backgrounds into learning more about this fantastic speciality. There are three key areas I will focus on if you elect me as your cardiothoracic surgery chair.

Firstly, getting students who are interested in cardiothoracics in a position to gain experience in theatres and setting up genuine connections with London surgeons to ensure opportunities are sustained for future students. I have already established contact with a thoracic surgeon at Westmoreland St. who is enthused about teaching robotics at UCL - this is just one example of how these sustained connections can benefit students at UCL.

Secondly, I propose organizing collaborative cross-society events showcasing cardiothoracics alongside specialities like plastics, trauma, and paediatrics. This will strengthen inter-subcommittee connections, making our surgery society more dynamic. Additionally, it will broaden the audience for cardiothoracics, inspire discussions, and create opportunities with surgeons from diverse fields.

Lastly, I want to build on previous year’s focus on inclusivity and accessibility to this great speciality to anyone interested. Vote for me, and I will continue to see that this society grows in a positive, more inclusive direction as it has done with Ollie as chair.
