Surgery and Interventional Science Society : Networking and Events Officer

Hey my name is Karim and I am a 2nd year ‘Medical Science and Engineering' student.

I am passionate about bioengineering, I want to build this society to showcase events that will educate members about innovative medical technologies that will revolutionize healthcare and save lives. I want to organize speaker events and conferences from people from the engineering and medical sectors that will inspire our members to understand better what career path they want to pursue in this revolutionary field. These events will allow members to form relationships with industry professionals and researchers and help bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world applications in bioengineering.  

The reason I applied for this role is because I have previous experience in setting up a bioengineering society in my school and organizing speaker events, presenting topics such as CRISPR-Cas9, base editing and anti-ageing technologies (e.g senolytic agents) and how they are currently being used to cure diseases. I made this society very interactive and enjoyable by hosting quizzes and game nights relating to medical technologies. This is something I hope to do in this society as a means to help build our members' knowledge of emerging and current biotechnologies in a fun rewardable fashion.   

By committing to this society, I want to create a community where ideas can flourish, and our members feel valued. So, I hope to organize events that cater to the interests of our members!
