Pragnya Dara

Having been on Students for Global Health society last year, I believe I can contribute to the difference this society is making. My role as social and welfare officer has helped me understand how the society runs and how to enable students to explore their own interests in the field.
My interest in Global Health led me to take part in the Global Health iBSc which further sparked my interest in this sector. I would love to explore my interests in health inequalities and work on providing more opportunities for students who are interested in Global Health.

Hareem Kamran

Hi everyone!

My names Hareem and I’m running to be your SfGH president! Having already been part of the war torn subcommittee this year I have the experience of working as part of the Students for Global Health team and know the impact we can make by shedding light on critical healthcare issues around the world. In this role, I envision creating a platform where students from diverse backgrounds can collaborate, innovate, and advocate for health equity.

One thing I would love to prioritise this year is focussing on conflict struck countries globally and making a speaker series surrounding the consequences on their healthcare systems - I would strive to amplify the voices of marginalised communities often overlooked in the discourse on global health.

Moreover, I am committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every member feels empowered to contribute their ideas and perspectives on whichever facets of global health they particularly resonate with e.g. reproductive health/infectious diseases, so we can all build a community passionate about social responsibility and global citizenship!

Jiya Undre

Over the past two years of being involved with SfGH, I have been lucky to experience the opportunities, activism and work that this society does. I would love to act as president in the 2024/25 year as I believe that I could grow the reach of this society even more. For example, I would wish to establish and engage with national intercollegiate partnerships holding a greater number of events to expand networking and research opportunities. Additionally, I would like to establish and organise a greater flow-through of the club to the national society, opening up systems that will help with gaining places for international exchange programs and international conferences. I also hope to grow the connectivity between the different subcommittee groups of the societies, holding events such as subject based tutorials and workshops open for all members. It has been a privilege to act as social and welfare officer this year, and thus I believe my experience on the committee with SfGH has provided me with the necessary skills to act as a diligent president for this society.
