Hello everybody 🥰!! I am Minh, a first-year student and I am excited! Though I might be new to UCL and university life, I have had experiences with the variety of activities here which made my life so interesting!!! Every experience has slowly shaped and transformed me into who I am today. Without the people that have been here to organise and host all of this, I would not understand the great joy of being able to be a part of inclusive community >:"D It's the joy of being able to share life memories stories with others that I seek to assist people more in making their own life 💗
I enjoy being able to listen and engage with people in their life journey lots!!! And I think people usually start making memorable stories of their own once they put themselves forward and join in life opportunities that are offered out there such as trying out a new recipe for a bake sale, visiting back to childhood by playing with children at NHS Gosich hospital, or simply hosting summer party with UCL Raise, or dancing with a random guy in Caledonian society!! To me, making these opportunities available and accessible to everyone, while assisting people in their transformation is my aim!
Assisting a former patient who received drug rehabilitation in setting up his small cafe, I worked closely with him from suggesting menu prices, and serving customers to running marketing campaigns by running a Facebook account and promotional activities such as "Checking in at the Cafe and getting a free biscuit." I realised that my true joy is in enriching people life with stories. Therefore, I am willing and truly ambitious to make these volunteering experiences come alive in everyone's own stories just like how they changed my life (just like Minions helping Gru) 🤣
Hello everybody!
My name is Ches Stupak. I am the President of the International Relations Society and a second-year Politics and International Relations student.
I know the challenges societies face and why students do not participate. To solve them, I want to empower UCL societies by increasing funding opportunities and streamlining administrative processes.
As President, I've gained a deep understanding of the Union's inner workings which will help me push for the changes we wish to see.
My ability to easily connect with new people will enable us to work towards our collective interests.
If elected, I would implement the following ideas:
Society Incubator Program: Launch a program to support the development of new societies. This will include workshops on leadership, event planning, and marketing.
Awards for societies and members: Expand society awards and introduce new awards for active members.
Society funding opportunities: Increase funding from UCL and connect with mega-companies that sponsor activities.
Digital Society Recruitment Hub: Develop an online platform that is a one-stop-shop for all society recruitment to onboard team members more efficiently.
I believe the Student Union must cater to the needs of students and our societies.
Your vote for me is a vote for a Student Union that prioritizes your needs, values your input, and contributes to empowering UCL societies.
I am always open to new ideas, can prioritise tasks, and will ensure UCL societies are thriving.
With the passion and drive I bring to the role, I am confident that I can make the experience of societies at UCL brighter.
During my time here at UCL, I have held presidential and managerial roles for Asian Social Network Society and the Chemical & Physical Society; I’ve loved developing my leadership, interpersonal, and organisational skills, and gaining new transferable skills along the way. I really hope I can use my knowledge and experiences within the SU as your Societies Officer next academic year :) I am extremely committed to ensuring that our societies function as smoothly as possible, and in turn, that our students are getting the most out of their time at UCL :)
If I am elected, I will work closely with the Activities & Engagement Officer to make funding more available and accessible to societies, opening discussion on different types of funding – such as the Cultural Fund. I will also collaborate with the Sabbatical team to streamline room bookings and other administrative processes which have previously caused issues when societies are trying to organise events. Lastly, I want to promote collaborations between SU Networks – such as the POC Network – and SU societies to encourage involvement and develop integration within the student body.
I want to ensure that all UCL students feel a sense of belonging. I want to use my experiences of being on society committees – as President, Events Manager, and Welfare Officer – to help develop the SU as a volunteering platform. A platform which nurtures and promotes the diversity of the UCL student body, helps to develop and enhance skills, and signposts and provides a myriad of opportunities. I will listen to your concerns and feedback in order to make the SU run more smoothly, and help give back to the student community by fulfilling my responsibilities as your next Societies Officer :)
