My focus as a communications director is to open new strategies of publicising and bringing new people into the society. As someone who has the creative ability, knowledge in media, and the time to commit, I intend to open the society onto different social media platforms (such as YouTube and Tiktok), through video content.

My experience in the Junior Committee provoked my desire to work in a team and collectively give ideas and other initiatives to benefit this society. I am an imaginative individual with perfectionist tendencies, so my abilities will be of service to designing and organising materials, meeting strict deadlines for posting, alongside actively communicating with enquiries online. Studying Media before university gave me an opportunity to understand what the audience desires and how to create materials that catch their eyes. Through my understanding of this field, I can assist in promoting and publicising the society by focusing on the their point of view, the type of materials that engages audiences and how to produce it. I love capturing memorable events in my life, creating videos of my adventures gives me a motive to implement this strategy as a communications director to create lively and entertaining memorabilia that can draw more people in, along with giving members of the society a review of the events across the year. I want to not only help bring a sense of home to students, but produce a second home for us in London through the community we build!

Laura Teo Pey Hua

Hi! I’m Laura and I want to be your comms director!

I am an easygoing and open-minded person who believes in always looking on the bright side! I am easy to approach and enjoy striking up conversations with new people! I believe that my passion and my empathetic nature will allow me to work well with the rest of the Singsoc leaders to make this society a continued success.

I enjoy taking photos with my camera, and I want to use this hobby to capture SingSoc’s events and memories to publicise them. Having benefitted greatly from SingSoc’s events in my first year, I hope to entice freshers to participate in such events, so to enhance their life in London.

My previous experience as a school ambassador has enabled me to build relevant assets such as presentation skills, confidence in communication, and efficiency in problem-solving to ensure that events continue without a hitch. I have also worked on publicity for multiple school campaigns and service projects, taking on tasks such as making posters, as well as creating social-media infographics and webpages.

If given the privilege, I plan on exploring new avenues of publicity, such as TikTok, to reach a wider target audience. Enhancing outreach is critical in ensuring that new freshers are aware of Singsoc existence early on, to ensure that they do not miss out on opportunities to sign up for key bonding events such as orientation and the pre-departure talk, especially since such events take place before school starts.
