Running, Athletics and Cross Country Club: This Girl Can Officer

My name is Chloe and I am the current This Girl Can officer for 2023-2024. Despite doing a degree that consumes around 90% of my time (Neuroscience), leading TGC runs has been a highlight for me each week. This is not only because of the benefits that running itself has on mental health, but because of the community of women, new and seasoned to running, that I get to meet each week and learn from. I really enjoy meeting new people and helping beginners run distances and paces they never thought they could, and the safe community we have cultivated for women. I would like to continue my role into next year so I can keep meeting new people and drawing more inspiration from people who come to push their limits.

I'm running for the position of This Girl Can Officer because of my passion for running and my understanding that starting can be challenging for many. Girls-only events create a supportive environment for students who may feel intimidated to begin their running journey. Having participated in some of these events myself, I strongly believe in the importance of offering a variety of activities to help girls start running with confidence.
