Dilan Krish Patel

Hello,

I am thrilled to be running for Sports & Societies VP. As an active member of RUMSHC, currently serving on the committee, and aspiring to contribute more, I am passionate about fostering an inclusive and vibrant community.

  • Uptake into clubs: Personally, sports have had a profound impact on me giving me a sense of community and it is this that I want to pass on to first-years. In addition, emphasising the joy of joining a RUMS sports or society, making their year a memorable and fulfilling experience. This should hopefully make joining a club less daunting, increasing uptake.
  • Sports Ball:  Work towards making it the flagship event of the year as well as keeping the costs low to ensure maximum participation making it a night for all to remember.
  • Varsity Support: Work towards scheduling Varsity on different days to allow support to be given to all sports.
  • Encouraging sports nights
  • Collaboration: I aim to build strong relationships between all sports and societies, encouraging collaboration through increased socials and events so we can create a more connected and integrated RUMS community.
  • Social media presence: Continue the strong social media presence set by the current committee. This platform will be vital for updates, and showcasing the fantastic events and achievements within our sports and societies.

Together, let's create a RUMS community that thrives on inclusivity, collaboration, and a shared love for sports and societies.

Thank you for your support!

Tommy Jenkins

Hey RUMS, Tommy here (again)! Why vote me for Sports & Socs VP?

  • As President of RUMS Badminton, not only have I lifted us from the ashes of disaffiliation, but I've led the club in its most successful year yet, with us now being the 5th largest club in UCL (not-so-subtle flex). I know the ins and outs of club leadership and am ready to support next year’s committees!
  • As former RUMS Events VP, I'm no stranger to organising large formals and I love a RUMS night out (Roxy in my Monzo Wrapped is my red flag), so I’m in a great position to organise the Sports Ball of the century.

Now, onto fresh ideas:

  • I'll organise RUMS' first ever Arts Showcase, which will go beyond existing offerings to help medics get creative - think dance, photography and painting!
  • I'll foster unity between clubs via more intersoc events, like a competitive Family Fortunes Charity Night.
  • As a bi man, I know the the hurdles LGBTQ+ people face in sport, so I'll work with EDI to create action plans with each committee to further promote Pride in Sport.
  • Welfare events and non-alcohol events aren't mutually exclusive - I'll work with presidents to ensure help them plan genuinely fun alcohol-free events and help to integrate members who wish to avoid sportsnights.

Overall, I’m friendly, outgoing and the king of admin, and I want to spend my final year giving back to RUMS - what better way than through its heart and soul - our sports and
