Avneet Purewal

Hi, I’m Avneet and I am a first-year student studying Economics. I am excited to apply for the role of Social Secretary since I would like to take the opportunity to uphold the existing culture of this society, celebrating Punjabi culture and maintaining a strong sense of community.

I have personally found the Punjabi society to be a comforting community and I am grateful to all the people I have met while being a member this year. Thus, I am eager to extend that same support to other students joining the society, ensuring that every member feels welcomed.

As the Social Secretary I would continue to organise meetings and events to maintain a sense of unity within the society. Drawing from my own positive experiences, I aspire to create an inclusive environment where all members of our society feel a sense of belonging. I would aim to keep the Punjabi community connected, both internally and externally, with other UCL societies and other London university Punjabi societies.

I believe I have the relevant skills to fulfil the role requirements, with organisational, logistical, and effective communication skills ensuring I am prepared to plan and co-ordinate events. I am equipped with the skills, passion, and dedication the role requires to ensure Punjabi Society continues to thrive and I look forward to the chance to become the Social Secretary to make a meaningful impact in this society.

Suraj Singh Cheema

Kiddha everyone, my name is Suraj and I am applying to be your Social Secretary. I feel that my good connections with committee and members as well as my confident speaking would make me a good fit for this role.

I have really enjoyed meeting the people I have this year at Uni. And what I have enjoyed even more is being able to be part of events with these people. I have encouraged many of my friends to attend events which I think can eventually lead to greater participation in events in the future.

On top of this, I would be happy to speak to people regarding organisation and events planning - having good connections with our FYRs and committee is proof of this. Having to promote myself as a performer has also given me experience with managing social media and platforms.

Overall, I think that my good engagement and knowledge base as a social person would allow me to perform will in this role and on the committee. I hope to work with the committee soon!
