Portuguese Speaking Society: Marketing Coordinator

I am running for this role because as an Angolan student, I feel a strong sense of community towards members of all Portuguese speaking backgrounds and am grateful that there is a place where we can celebrate these cultures. This being said I also believe that representation is important and I will offer a new perspective and use my experiences to think of ways to expand the society as well as reach out to students who come from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Additionally, in my studies I have taken a great focus on global topics and understand that language is something that can be shared regardless of a person's identity. I have always taken great interest in languages and communities and acquiring this role would help me improve on transferrable skills that are needed for me to build on my leadership skills, which are needed for me to become a language teacher. I will make sure that every lusophone student as well as non-Portuguese heritage students feel welcome and represented in the society.
