Election post
My aim extends beyond standard support measures - it’s important to me to create a holistic support system, tailored to the unique individual needs of POC students.
This includes implementing a mentorship program, community care networks as well as community service initiatives.
Additionally, I am committed to infusing our support system with vibrant and enjoyable activities that celebrate POC cultures and heritage, like cultural cuisine events, art and creativity therapy sessions and a cultural exchange program.
My current background in anthropology has nurtured my curiosity, as well as compassion, for understanding diverse perspectives; it is this that further allows me to approach interactions with genuine empathy and strive to create further unity with communities.
My ample voluntary work is a reflection of this, from connecting with those a part of different charity organisations, to spending time with children at a special needs primary school and speaking to those at my local council.
Growing up in a South Asian household, my extended family thousands of miles away, I learned first-hand the value of community and the sense of security it brings. I am dedicated, thus, to fostering a supportive environment where every individual feels included and heard.
Drawing from my experience in leading a small team, for a local charity supporting domestic abuse survivors, I've honed strong leadership skills. I'm confident in my ability to organise engaging events that not only bring our community together but also promote awareness and social change.
