Hi there! My name is Josphin Johny and I am a second year straight physics student.

Having been a member since first year, I have been privileged enough to watch our society grow into a well-established space for like-minded, and motivated coursemates to gain insight from, and also to chill out with. Seeing this has motivated me to run for president. My multiple roles as marketing leads for various projects in societies such as the Drama Society and Negotiation Society has given me a deep appreciation of teamwork and succeeding in projects that I hope I can replicate within our Physics Society.

I believe the next step of the society should be to cultivate the skill set of our cohort by running workshops that develop these key skills for academic, and indeed non-academic careers. In my presidency, I will strive to set up a mentorship program, which I hope will garner a feeling of belonging to our great course by enabling all cohorts to gain soft skills such as teaching, which will distinguish us from the graduates of other courses and universities, as well as give a great footing for the freshers of our course. I recognise that the STEM community in UCL is large and dynamic, and there is a lot to gain from holding more collaborative events with other societies with emphasis on socials. Encouraging synergy, these events will make our society one of the most career-ready in the faculty!

Thank you very much for your consideration and vote, I look forward to serving our society!
