Mathu Ratnakumar

Hi, I’m Mathu and I’m nominating myself to be one of the Academic Officers next year.

Being reliable and organised, I will help voice student concerns by efficiently communicating with the department and be persistent when requesting changes to be made, from the way lectures are delivered to unreasonable deadlines. I am very friendly and approachable so I can effectively liaise between students and professors.

As a driven and collaborative individual, I will bring a positive contribution to the team, with new ideas for academic events and always being available to help out where needed.

In the upcoming year, I would like to establish professional development sessions tailored specifically to Physics students, for example useful CV building sessions targeted at the industries we apply for.

Also, I will be coordinating more academic talks across a range of fields, from particle physics to machine learning, and organising alumni networking sessions, to get real insight from professionals who have been in the same position.
