Florence Xue

As an applicant for the position of President of the UCL Photography Society, my extensive background and passion for photography uniquely position me for this role. During my internship at Chinese Photography which is the largest photography publisher in China, I honed my skills in promoting events and competitions through the collaboration with an editorial team. My leadership role in the 'Mothers in the Photos' project involved managing over 3000 submissions and maintaining effective communication with all contributors. Furthermore, my foundational experience as the founder and leader of my high school photography club, is directly relevant to this position. I successfully recruited over 200 members and organized numerous events, including a fundraising photography exhibition. Under my leadership, the club earned recognition in prestigious photography competitions, including accolades from the IPA, Natural Density Photography Awards, MILSET STEAM Photo Contest World High Distinction, National High School Media and Communication Competition, and The Epson International Pano Awards. In conclusion, my vision for the UCL Photography Society is to apply my experiences to enrich the society by organizing innovative events and exhibitions, and creating an inclusive environment for all members. My commitment to photography and community building, combined with my proven leadership skills, make me an ideal candidate for the role of President of the UCL Photography Society.

Abisola Rutter

With my prior experience serving as the Vice President of the UCL Photography Society, I am confident in my candidacy for the position of President. My active participation and contributions to the society's events have allowed me to demonstrate leadership, creativity, and commitment to the society's mission.

As president, my foremost objective will be to ensure the sustained growth of our society. I propose the introduction of additional workshops, designed to cater to a vast array of photographic interests. By focusing on a variety of themes, such as abstract, portrait, and macro photography, we can engage members with diverse interests, thus fostering a more inclusive and dynamic society.

I am committed to ensuring the provision of high-quality equipment and resources for our members. Beyond this, I aspire to nourish a society that greatly values the contribution of each member. My aim is to foster an environment wherein every individual feels welcome and inspired to explore their unique perspectives through the medium of photography. By doing so, we can cultivate not just as photographers, but also as a community that appreciates the profound power of visual storytelling.

With my proficiency in street and abstract photography, coupled with my experience in film photography, I am eager to collaborate with all members of the Photography Society in a mutual journey of learning and growth!
