MedTech Society: Treasurer

My name is Arman, and I am a second-year PhD student in Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering, studying medical imaging of the retina and early detection of blindness in humans.

I am standing for MedTech Society Treasurer for three reasons:

First, I'm passionate about everything medical technology. I get involved where I can, whether it's through my research, volunteering, or personal projects. As an example, right now I'm trying to merge my research in human blindness with my interests in spaceflight through a side project investigating why astronauts go blind in space!

Second, I know and love the MedTech Society - this year, I was the Mentorship Programme Chair, and alongside my two fantastic Mentorship Executives, we put together the best Mentorship Programme of the society so far, wherein we matched 113 students with 26 highly accomplished mentors from academia and industry. We even capped it off with a lovely in-person networking event at a bar in central London.

Third, I have the skills and diligence to perform well in the role of Treasurer. The position requires excellent organizational ability, since the society relies on the Treasurer to communicate punctually with the Student Union to manage its finances and other paperwork. I've built these skills over a long graduate career in research, as well as through my time serving as student-CEO of the charity STEM Fellowship.

I'm highly motivated to bring my skills and energy to this role, and I hope I earn your vote!
