Anas Idris

Hello!

My name is Anas and I’m a 5th year medical student. Having studied an intercalated degree in mathematics and computer science, I got the opportunity to learn, design and create new technologies that can be used to innovate healthcare, and potentially better patients' lives.

Experiencing firsthand how AI diagnostic imaging is being used in hospitals during my medical placement has been incredibly exciting. I'm eager to be part of a team where we can continue to learn about new innovations and get more involved.

I also have the experience of being a Founder & Treasurer of UCL's Sudanese society, so I have familiarity on how to be a part of a committee for a society. Collaboration and empowerment are very important aspects of a society for me, and I would further love to help shed light to the diverse and inclusive medical technology landscape.

This year, I'm looking forward to immersing myself in the field of Medtech and would be very thankful for your vote!

Karis Lai

Hello, I'm Karis. Having participated in the Python workshop, mentorship program, and the Medical Gadget Fair with the MedTech Society this year profoundly impacted me. The welcoming community sparked a passion in me to contribute actively to the society's growth. I am eager to bring my skills and expertise to the MedTech Society by stepping into the role of Diversity and Inclusion Executive.

What I aim to achieve

  • An inclusive space where ideas flow freely and a stronger sense of community for all.
  • Ensure a larger variety of topics can be discussed. There will always be something for you.
  • Exclusive opportunities to engage with professionals and attend industry events.

What I Bring to the Role

  • Being a Medical Innovation and Enterprise student has provided me with a solid understanding of the MedTech field. This enables me to comprehend the challenges and opportunities present in the industry
  • Serving as the Marketing Director for the variety show of Chinese Society, I have honed my skills in effective communication, liaising with different companies with strategic outreach. This ensures that our initiatives reach and engage a wide range of members
  • My previous experiences in organizing large-scale activities provided me with the organizational and logistical prowess required to plan and execute impactful events.

I bring not just skills, but heart and passion to make Med Tech society a dynamic and collaborative hub of innovation for all.

Lauren Wang

Hi! I’m Lauren, nominating for the D&I in Medtech Executive. I am an organized and responsible individual with a passion for planning events, coming from my desire for personal development and entertainment. As the former president of my high school’s First-aid club, I successfully organized volunteering teaching sessions, paying much attention to detail in time schedules, resource allocation and proficiency. In extending this passion to the D&I conference, I am eager to contribute my skills in helping to carry out a smooth and successful conference for the year.

I have also previously been a volunteer with the British Red Cross which had deepen my teamwork skills. This involves being an active listener, effective communicator and also having diverse responsibilities. I can take on different roles that the team wants with my adaptable abilities. I can understand different concerns, ideas and feedback.

Being a female student in medical physics, I realized the diversity within the course. And I can imagine how much more diversity that is not recognized in other Medtech areas or even just other STEM areas. I am thrilled to nominate myself for the D&I conference executive so that we could celebrate the diversity and how much we have overcome. This is a conference to be proud of the achievements with diversion and inclusion as well as us. This is why if elected, I am committed to help the team carry out smoothly the D&I conference and provide the best experience of all.
