Candidates

Tasneem Chiter

As a candidate for the position of Medical Society President, I am committed to enhancing the experience of our members through a comprehensive and dynamic approach.

Why should you vote for me?

I have demonstrated effective leadership as pre-clinical education chair this year. I played a key role in revamping the presentations, worksheets and developing new SBAs. My experience instills confidence in my ability to foster growth and improvement. I am dedicated to offering more opportunities for professional and personal development.

Changes I would make as president:

1. Strengthen communication with the Student Union:

  • Establish an efficient communication channel with the Student Union to streamline room bookings and manage funding for our events.

2. Improve and increase Social Events:

  • Make social events more inclusive and accessible to all members.
  • Organize a variety of events catering to different interests and preferences.

3. Increase Networking Opportunities:

  • Facilitate networking sessions during and after speaker events to promote connections between attendees and speakers.

4. Empower Sub-Committees:

  • Provide support and resources to sub-committees to ensure the successful execution of their initiatives.

If I become president, I aim to create a nourishing, supportive environment within the Medical Society and improve both preclinical and clinical learning.

Devanandh Murugesan

Hi everyone, I’m Dev and it would be my privilege to be your President next year!

As your secretary, I’ve gained an in-depth understanding into how our MedSoc operates from the ground up.

By supporting committee members and writing the weekly newsletter (come rain or shine), I’ve honed my communication and organisational skills and now feel confident to lead our MedSoc into a brighter future and it begins with Innovation, Collaboration and Empowerment

  • Innovation 💡
    • Revamp our tutorials (integrate gamification, pilot VR teaching sessions, workshops on how best to learn lectures/on a ward, inc practical examples!)
    • Inspire members with a specialty-specific MedTech series - “The Future of Medicine”, partnering with MedTech society
  • Collaboration 🌿
    • Build a more connected MedSoc community, where ALL our members can actively shape our events + future direction
    • Create an alumni network for networking opportunities by contacting past MedSoc members
  • Empowerment 🎉
    • Launch a new “Skill-Up” + “This Medic can…” initiative - workshops focused on building academic skills e.g. conducting a systematic review, coding and data analysis
    • Making sure all committee members are well supported throughout and have the opportunity to thrive

Together, let’s make our MedSoc bigger, better and bolder than its ever been before ✨
