Election post

Elected

Although many people have said I have the air of a future monarch, I am chronically afraid of leadership. Leadership means responsibility and responsibility means the possibility of failure. Not to mention it hasn’t been lost on me how chaotic and stressful the role can be during show week. But the show always works, it always goes on, no matter how many tech glitches there are, or how many people don’t know their lines, or how messy the final dance is, when it matters, it comes together. Why? Because we’re all just friends and even when it looks grim, we support each other and shoulder through whatever adversity comes our way. This is what makes the possibility of failure so distant, and it’s what makes me so confident in running for the Director of the MDs.

If elected, I intend to bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to our comedy society. I will work tirelessly to organize hilarious shows that not only entertain but also inspire creativity and camaraderie among our members. Fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment where students from all backgrounds feel valued and empowered to share their comedic talents is important, and I will make sure any member, existing or new, feels this. I will also attempt to make the year more organised by preparing earlier with the least stress possible. I am aware more sketch writing was necessary this year and I will make sure to promote the importance of sketch writing sessions and get more people involved.
