Chantelle Liew

Hi everyone! My name is Chantelle, a 1st year studying Chemistry and I am running for Vice President and Welfare Officer for the Malaysian Society at UCL.

The idea of starting university at UCL without any familiar faces initially frightened me. As Malaysian Society organised talks and camps prior to our departure to London, it has allowed me to meet my closest friends and also led to the formation of a tight-knit friend group that became my second home away from home. The incorporation of a family system within the society has further deepened my bond within the community thus I aspire to carry forward this opportunity that the Malaysian Society provides, ensuring everyone feels included and supported.

Why am I a good fit for this role?

  • My past experiences in leadership roles has developed my team management and communication skills
  • Previous involvement in welfare department has enhanced my caring and compassionate personality, being able to foster wellbeing

Here is a summary of my plans if I am elected as your Vice President:

  1. Family Bingo!!! - aims to enhance the sense of togetherness within each designated family
  2. Merchandise Sales - customisable merch
  3. Jom Makan - electronically accessible making it an easily portable and a regularly updated platform
  4. Lead and assist the BOD & provide love to the MSoc Community

Here is a link to my complete manifesto for more information!

Thank you for your time and have a great day ahead <3

Kohen Yan

I joined the Malaysian society this year just for interactions with my fellow Malaysians, but when I joined the first picnic event, I found that the UCLMsoc is so much more and all the members were immensely welcoming. I would like to run for the role of VP to maintain the welcoming atmosphere of our beloved Msoc, as well as building on the work of past leaders to not only strengthen bonds between UCLMsoc members through relaxing activities, but also to work on innovating new activities for Msoc members to grow together.
