Upon arriving in London to pursue my academic future, I initially felt lonely as a foreigner. However, participating in the MSoc pre-departure camp allowed me to meet new friends who shared my background, making me feel like part of a family. Attending a dinner hosted by my MSoc's mother solidified this feeling of being at home, and I have since taken pride in being actively involved in MSoc events. Encouraged by seniors and listening to positive experiences, I decided to join the RD program as an Events Manager and organised the Jom Lari charity event. We raised £500 for Epic Home in Malaysia, an organisation dedicated to building homes for Orang Asli. As a Malaysian, I feel it is important to give back to my homeland and assist those in need.

From my personal experiences, the ‘Family System’ has made me and my fellow Malaysians more connected, therefore, I plan to enhance the system to strengthen the community. Looking forward, I aspire to create platforms that allow Malaysian students in UCL to connect with other Malaysian students across different universities, through inter-university events. Additionally, I aim to share Malaysia's multicultural practices on an international stage by collaborating with other societies to organise events that facilitate the sharing and exchange of our respective cultures. Through these events, I hope to spread our culture and foster a sense of patriotism in every Malaysian's heart, creating a strong sense of belonging.
